Hi! I'm Dr. Hartter. Come with me on a journey through your child's body and mind — and discover how staying aligned helps kids grow up happy, healthy, and full of life. This is the heart of Dr. Scott's Whole Child Method™.
Chapter 1
Think of your child's spine like a tall, beautiful tower of blocks. When every block sits just right, the tower stands tall and strong. That's what 'aligned' means — every bone, nerve, and muscle in the right place, working together in harmony. When the tower leans, everything above it wobbles. In the body, that wobble is called subluxation — and it can affect how kids feel, think, sleep, and behave. It's the very first idea behind The Whole Child Method™ — keeping every block in place, from the start.
Chapter 2
Did you know that emotions live in the body? When a child carries worry, sadness, fear, or frustration — what we call 'emotional baggage' — their muscles tighten, their fascia stiffens, and their spine can shift out of place. This is real science. Stress triggers the fight-or-flight response, which tightens muscles and alters posture. Over time, that tension pulls the spine out of alignment — and that's when misbehavior, tantrums, and trouble focusing can show up. It's not bad behavior. It's a body calling for help — and The Whole Child Method™ answers that call by releasing the tension so the whole child can breathe again.
Chapter 3
So many everyday things can nudge those tower-blocks out of place: • Heavy backpacks worn on one shoulder • Hours hunched over tablets and phones • Falls on the playground, in sports, or learning to walk • Poor sleep on unsupportive mattresses • Dehydration and sugary, processed foods • Birth itself — even the gentlest births create tension in a tiny spine Each one affects the nervous system, the fascia (the body's connective tissue web), and the spine. The good news? We can help the body find its way back — and The Whole Child Method™ is the map that guides it there.
Chapter 4
Children can't always tell us when something feels off — but their bodies can. Here are real signs that a child's spine and nervous system may need attention: • Frequent headaches or stomachaches • Bad breath (yes — tension and poor nerve flow to digestion can contribute!) • Irritability, anxiety, or low mood • Trouble sleeping or staying asleep • Poor posture, slouching, or tilted head • Frequent ear infections or sinus issues • Clumsiness or frequent falls None of these mean something is 'wrong' with your child. They're simply signals — and signals can be answered. The Whole Child Method™ is how Dr. Hartter answers them.
Chapter 5
When a child's spine and nervous system are aligned, amazing things happen. Here are 16 real, researched benefits of pediatric chiropractic care — the same outcomes The Whole Child Method™ is built to deliver:
Chapter 6
Chiropractic care for children is gentle, safe, and specifically designed for growing bodies. Adjustments for kids use no more pressure than you'd use to check a tomato for ripeness. Dr. Hartter checks your child's spine, finds the places where tension has built up, and helps the body release it — so the nervous system can flow freely again. Combined with good movement, rest, hydration, and love, regular care keeps that tower of blocks standing tall. Every child deserves to feel their best from the inside out — and that's exactly what Dr. Scott's Whole Child Method™ is for.
The End
Thank you for reading — this book is where it begins. The Whole Child Method™ is the developmental method Dr. Hartter built to keep your child aligned, from newborn to age twelve. Milestone by milestone, from the nervous system up, it guides your child's body into the alignment it was designed to hold. If your child shows any of the signs we talked about, or you simply want them to grow up at their healthiest, The Whole Child Method™ is how we help them get there — and stay there.
"When the whole child is aligned, the whole child thrives. The Whole Child Method™ grows them well — from the inside out."
